Yep, still f’in about trying to get it to load
I have no idea how to put GIFs in here but that’s probably a good thing.
Nothing to do with Peter Snell. The original type C was a nice sounding quite interesting design. Later models were just large speakers that might’ve been made by any manufacturer.
What he said
Interesting Cs have a sloping top section with the mid and tweeter
Looks like the same tweeter and midrange, as in the A’s.
true but the iv is the last (Voeck) version before Snell went AV and still sound good as a £600 speaker and used the same mass loaded woofers as the earlier ones
Not any As i have had.
Those Cs have a metal dome tweeter and plastic mid, rather than a soft dome tweeter and paper mid typical on Peter Snell As
Sorry. First glance seemed the same. I owned A’s for about 10 years.
No worries, i owned some A2s for about 10 years and have worked on a couple of other pairs since.
The Peter Snell era designs are excellent but now long in the tooth and typically need some tlc, the later versions never had the same qualities unfortunately.
My JBL L300s made my Snell Cs sound rather slow and lethargic tbh, and mine were early Cs. Nice enough tone to them, but not a part of my hifi history that I’d really want to revisit.
The original Snells are all about natural tone and driver integration not necessarily about other hifi attributes, so I can see how the L300s would differ significantly
Today I found out Binaural records were a thing.
Just as I’m trying to decide how to distribute my budget across arm, pre and phono I come across this and have the want:
In terms of millinery the Dalby is fit for Ascot, the Douk a Curbside kebab.
It has Nobsound, all the win.
It’s the equivalent of a diamond studded gold codpiece in the shape of a penis.
Fine for connoisseurs of such things, but don’t be surprised when people point and laugh at you.
Just think how many Mofifirst pressings you could buy instead.
