What’s been striking me recently is seeing video & pictures of various Chinese infrastructure projects whether they be new airports, new high speed train lines, mad bridges, dams etc. It’s almost as if they’re living in the future we were told to expect and yet we in the West can’t have & can’t afford it. I’m not bitter about it & we’re effectively funding much of it by our consumption but the two worlds seem to be moving in opposite directions economically & something will have to give fairly soon.

Last year’s announcement on a 4 year freeze on income tax allowances kicks in next tax year. That’ll be a decrease of more than 10 percent thanks to inflation, essentially you’ll be paying more tax.
I suspect it’s political to support the Union in an attempt to keep the devolved nations on side.
Still, If they can implement the cut quickly the COP delegates jetting in from across the globe will get a cheaper connection from Heathrow.
Some large tax increases in there, or rather the omission.
Makes sense, you don’t want HS2 to be too competitive against air travel.

It is an attempt to push the masses back to drinking small beer, as the water won’t be drinkable either.

Wasn’t mild invented so people could drink something that wasn’t full of faeces and not get them pissed at lunchtime? We’re getting back to traditions!
Small Beer was lower in alcohol content than Mild.
Small beer was also produced in households for consumption by children and by servants. In many places, especially towns and cities, it was safer to drink than the water available.
Small Beer was about 0.5% Mild was about 3%
