Were you thinking of DIYing it ?
Hah no, but I thought it might be a case of choosing the kit and my electrician to fit it.
Just had the renewal email from Octopus for our Go tariff which is due to change at the very end of August.
Currently paying
Day 15.59p kWh
Go 0.05p kWh (00:30 - 04:30)
25p per day.
Will be paying
Day 39.84p kWh
Go 0.075p kWh
43.12 per day.
Will be just over £1k a year increase for electricity, never mind gas.
Jesus!
Looks like our panels are throttling back a bit to try and keep the temperatures within reason (the inverter does show them but the app doesn’t).
RIIIIIIIIP

When I joined I asked if I was on a fixed rate, and they told me there was just one rate they had used for years and it was one everyone got.
I was never told I was in any time bound deal.
I was left believing they just had one price and it was for all.
Interesting to see that happens when they try and change mine as that call was recorded.
Do you think because the call was recorded your tariff is grandfathered forever? lol.
It’s quite simple. Log into your account, what does your tariff say
No… I don’t expect to be locked in forever. But will be asking for my contract when they try and meddle.
They didn’t tell me I was on any sort of fixed length contract. Chap said we have had this price for years and suspect it will be same for more years.
I’m still on the same rates as 2020 when I think I joined.
I have no idea when they will decide to reconsider. I can’t even find a contract on my email.
It will come, though. Just when! (Just seen December somewhere in the app. No idea where they plucked that month from).
On the website log in I am on the June 2018 Go tariff. ![]()
Can you use your car to store power for the day as well as the battery? Living on that 7.5p tariff would be fine then!
Say goodbye to RSPB Minsmere. ![]()
It thrived during the running of the original power station.
Beer fridge?
Need to work out the thermodynamics on that, but I suspect that it would not be running cold at any point when you would want to have a beer outside.
Things I would like to see:
Outside heat pumps that are happy to heat and cool as required. Can they do this?
Radiators that have small quiet integrated fans so they are more efficient and can also cool as well as heat.
Systems that I could actually afford easily…
Keyhole surgery
