Does anyone have advice on if the SolarEdge quote is worth it over the extra battery storage, EPS and lower cost of the GivEnergy option?
The GivEnergy quote uses an all in one battery system with EnPhase iQ8 Microinverters for each panel.

I would think ability to run off grid in a power cut is a big advantage. I take it the GivEnergy batteries need their inverter rather than running via AC coupling?
The only thing about combined solar/battery in the DC side is that monitoring by other systems of the sit between the two isnât possible with CT clamps, so things like car chargers/solar diverters canât tell if a battery is draining.
Quote says âGivEnergy All in One AC Coupled System with Gatewayâ.
One thing Iâm waiting on is confirmation that both systems will be âsmartâ with our Zappi Charger and ASHP system.
You can have the circuit designed so a inverter doesnât see the car charger, or control them via Home Assistant to not discharge when car is charging.
Of course, I forgot that not everyone has Space Karen in complete control of their house batteries.
Iâve often been an advocate of tidal power, but this thread highlights many of the challenges:

It still seems like a great idea, as itâs predictable and contains a lot of energy, but seeing some of the challenges is eye opening. Cool stuff.
Remind me what tariff youâre on. Why arenât you just exporting it?
Old style FIT so deemed 50% export.
And the whole Good Life self sufficiency thing.
There is a comments section, which is exactly how you would expect it to be.
My energy news - Since Solar install in September we have just completed the first 7 day run of net zero cost. 31Kw of exported energy offset the standing charge and less than 1kwH in total was taken from the grid for the prior 7 days. About ÂŁ20 clawed back.
Annoyingly the whilst the overall energy price recently dropped from 30p to 24p per unit the standing standing charge increased by 15p a day - buggers.
Robbery in the highest
Is the self sufficiency % figure a cumulative use figure Jim?
Looks like for today you have produced 300% more than your use for the day.
Yes Chris, I think that % figure is deceptive. It doesnât include the excess pumped into the grid.
Am envious with my 22.8kWh today. You so need an EV.
