That top one winds me up every time. It’s budgets that cause it, your average runway lasts pretty well with 200+ ton jets landing at 150mph
It certainly is when they decide they can ‘save money’ by shovelling some fifth-rate patching asphalt into the pothole. I’ve lived in this street for almost exactly 30 years and it hasn’t been resurfaced once, including after they dug most of it up to install Virgin cables. It’s been botched with patches countless times though.

I’m sick of all the patching. Just fucking do it properly… but of course it saves £5 this year whilst stitching up the following councils for year after year
And resurfacing is no good unless they fix underlying problems. Most of the city here has been resurfaced under scheme with Amey, but where obvious subsurface problems were present (e.g. cracked and sunken areas indicating water problems) they just skimmed off the top and resurfaced. 6 months later it looks like it did before.
You lucky bastard. I dream of our street getting patched. I remember visiting Prague soon after the Berlin wall fell and being shocked at the state of the roads. Now our street is in a similar state.
Just to rub salt in the wound, I live at the end of the road and the council insist our bit, i.e. the last 50 yards of the road, is a private road. We had to fork out about £800 last year to patch a hole at the entrance to our drive and another in our car park. CUNTS.
Agreed. The roads around here are like the Dardanelles in 1915. Just this last week, they resurfaced a section of road with 1" of tarmac. The length ? 150 yards !!!

This is the best we can expect, unless another service organisation needs to do work. and is prepared to do more than patch.
