Total bollocks I’m afraid.
Neither Marie Curie nor Mariah Carey had anything to do with U-235
Discovered by Arthur Jeffrey Dempster.
Marie Curie did have an involvement with Radium, Polonium and obviously Curium but she was dead before Uranium was discovered.
Mariah Carey did have an album called E=MC² but nothing to do with chemistry afaik
Thanks Graeme
Have you forgotten your tablets again?
Private Eye occasionally publishes a series of spoof ‘letters’ in which one self-declared (armchair) expert answers a question only to be corrected by another one who politely declares the first one to be ‘completely wrong’. In this spirit:
I’m afraid Mister Kevin’s statement is wrong (albeit not completely). Marie Curie was not even born when Uranium was discovered (by Martin Heinrich Klaproth, in 1789). Dempster’s achievement in 1935 was to separate the two most abundant isotopes of Uranium and to identify U-235 as the (first) minority nuclide behind U-238.
(yup, really).
I specified 235 further up the post, the while joke was about 235, Everything in my post that says Uranium is about 235, I left out 235 one time , ONE TIME!!!
and inserted an unnecessary space before a comma
The 2nd dan should be rescinded. This is brown belt pedantry at best. Pffft.
There is nothing sweeter to my mind than failed pedantry
How did you get video of @Ruprecht eating mince pies today?
