Feckin' Weather

Will have to wait and see but tomorrow is forecast for 20+cm snow with storm goretti.

A slight overnight thaw seems to be continuing this morning. Finally, a snow plough arrived from the Mainland, better late than never.

All was going well untl the operator managed to slide it into a roadside ditch

Can’t be easy for the driver, that monster is probably wider than most stretches of road on Fetlar :joy:

If ever UK conditions called for chains…

Whats bondage got to do with it. ( asking for a friend )

First, tell me if this rag smells like Chloroform to you, then I’ll show you…

The local cavalry arrives to extract the snow plough

Mind you, they’ve been at it for an hour and it hasn’t moved an inch.

Is there a thaw in the forecast?

Edit: BBC says up to 4 / 5C over the next few days, so I guess they need to keep trying…

It’s been thawing, very slowly.

It has moved!

It’s MUCH deeper in the ditch now…

What time is the last ferry?
Presumably the snow plough driver needs to get home?

Last scheduled ferry is 16:40

There are 3 more (later) ferries (19:40, 21:40 & 23:35) but they only operate if they’ve been booked in advance. I imagine they will waive that rule, if necessary.

aaand, it’s out

Given the apocalyptic predictions overnight, our forecast still looks very like Some Rain.

Its a white out here ..by hopwood services at 7pm

bit breezy and rainy here

Current accuracy of that:

White out here and seriously laying.

Gonna have to walk up tomorrow to feed my horse.

From my mate in West Cornwall (St Just)

Pretty rough at the moment. F10 northwesterly, gusting 84 mph. Rarely heard such a nasty-sounding blow. Two brief power cuts so far.

Just been watching some live webcams from the Scilly Isles; no sound but some have lighting nearby, and it looks mental..
