I ended up with a pair of them, and modded the Durhams to run them biamped.
Later sold them to friends who used them to biamp Snell C/1 speakers
Those A12 amps did chew through EL84s mind you
This was the exact model that my Dad passed down to me when I was 9. I played his old 78s on it - Elvis, Mario Lanza and a bunch of very forgettable stuff.
Best thing for me was that I could get Radio Luxembourg on the very noisy long wave.
I can confirm it was much dustier than this inside.

I remember as a 14-16 year old boy going through all the brochures every week comparing specifications and data, while saving every penny I could.
I finally bought:
JVC R-X 40 Receiver
JVC KD-V44 Auto reverse cassette deck (better spec than Nakamichi 
)
Can’t remember which Kenwood record player, later upgraded with an Ortofon OM-5
Jamo P-155 speakers
It took another 2 or 3 years before I could afford a cd player:

Proper hi-fi that.
I first got into hifi when I was about 14, because my uncle had a cyrus III, some AR speakers and a rega planar 2, and a young music loving David, was blown away by how much “more” it sounded than the systems I was used to.
It kicked off for me when he donated me the AR’s because my cousin as a 4 year old had shoved his pinkie through the foam surround. But daft young me didn’t preserve them well and they fell to bits.
But they did force me to buy my first real amp, a pioneer sa-420
Which I then ran into some tangent floorstanders with a random sansui cd player.
It all went horribly wrong when I got a job working for an Internet cafe and got my first credit card! By the time I was 19, it had escalated somewhat!
Hard to see with a photo taken in about 1999, but it was a high end Sony DVD player (was soon replaced by a roksan caspian) into audiolab 8000Q and 8000M’s into some epos ES22’s
That was the first system I had that made me really go “wow”
