Floor Paint

I’m just putting this here as a reference for anyone who needs it. I’m sorry to @Ruprecht and @stu that it’s taken me so long. I wanted to interject this back in August when you were doing your floors, and having a mare with shit oil-based paint, but I couldn’t find the tin, and for the life of us neither I nor the Mrs could find or remember what we’d bought online. But this is a water-based floor paint that we’ve been using, and it’s amazing. I think it’s the only one on the market. It doesn’t seem possible, but it’s truly excellent. Hardwaring, no solvent fumes.. just excellent. Really lovely colour range too. Basically I just found the tin, finally. I honestly can’t recommend this stuff too highly, if you need to paint wood floors.

Balls, I just this week ordered 3 tins of Black Friars.

Agh dammit! Yeah I did just notice you were needing some as I was searching the thread. You can’t cancel/return?

Very much feeling like a Jim Bowen moment having failed to get bulleys special prize.

Hopefully I never have to use floor paint again, but will definitely try it as long as it hasn’t been painted in oil based before.

I’ve found most water based paints are pretty useless compared to oil,but as we switch over to all water/acrylic they will get better. So it’s good that this one fits that bill.

Paint is here and Hel’s already opened them up and broken the seals etc, so they’re going on the floor!

Ah well, I’m sure it’ll be fine. For future reference in any case.

Yeah we’ve used this straight onto bare wood, and honestly it’s been such a surprise. Really nice paint to work with, and quite a few years down the line there’s no major scuffs or thinning anywhere. Just the right amount of sheen with the satin one. I worked as a decorator for years, so I’ve a fair bit of experience with paint, and I have no idea how they’ve managed this with a water-based, but they have. I guess one caveat is that we don’t wear shoes in the house, so I don’t know how it would hold up in an environment with a lot of hard tread on it.

Nothing wrong with that I know plenty of people with the same rule.
But I once went to a woman’s house that looked like a show home.
She asked me to remove my shoes and then asked if I had brought any slippers with me?
I said that I hadn’t.
“Never mind” she said, “I will get you a pair of guest slippers”

Paint technology has developed hugely over recent years. Don’t most new cars have water based paint finishes these days?

That I didn’t know, but that’s pretty amazing if that’s the case.
