Formula One 2024 - The end draweth nearer!

Pretty entertaining I thought (notwithstanding Chico’s bollockdrop) - not always a Baku speciality, so I’ll take it.

I’ve enjoyed '24, and still six races to go :ok_hand:

I had reservations about Colapinto but his qualifying and race result suggest he’s done pretty well.

Yep. It’s early days, but so far the anticipated amateurish playboy-dabbler hasn’t showed-up - long may it continue :ok_hand:

Excellent race
Having RBR back in the pack opens up the field nicely

Mclaren leading the Constructors Championship for the first time in 10 years is quite an achievement

Well, as expected, turn 15 didn’t throw up much action to speak of, other than to gauge how close the following driver was to getting a tow down the straight, but it was an incredibly enjoyable and intense F1 race to follow from the granstands (thanks in no small part to local-sim-card-fulled live timing app)

FWIW Baku is a ridiculously good F1 venue: plenty to discuss about the regime itself and its use of money, but if there’s a better preserved / well-looked-after city in the world I’m struggling to recall that I’ve visited it. we stayed in a v nice hotel just within the old city walls and 5 mins walk from our grandstand. great food and beer, really really friendly locals and an interesting mix of F1 fans from near -Asia / Indian subcontinent (and yes, Russia)

Good to hear that panned-out well :ok_hand:

F1 should have a word with itself!
Have you watched Drive to Survive?
It is one long swearathon!

I appreciate it’s Liberty vs the FIA numptie, but the overall double morality of the swearing thing drives me mad

They’ve been perfectly happy to cash in on Gunther Fucking Steiner and the DTS swearathon

No idea why they bought him back TBH, lovely bloke, but seemed to lack sufficiently predatory instincts on track.

…and that fucking fiddler-tache :poop:

I think Norris did a job on him at McLaren.
What a circus!

Liam Lawson is in.
After 5 years at RB he finally gets a drive! (Leaving aside the brief stint he’s had.)

Lawson’s RBR contract was about to expire, making him a free agent, RBR didn’t want to lose him.
Ricciardo has been outperformed by Yuki Tsunoda for most of the season and his contract was only to the end of the season. He has played a major part in F1 over the last 10 years. He deserved a better goodbye

There is great affection for him at Red Bull and they would have taken him back like a shot if he had shown some of his old form, and they really wanted to.
But he didn’t.
