Sarah and I have signed up to do the Llangollen Round on 31st May. This is a 35m (56km) walk, with about 2000m of ascent over the course. And we are doing it in the single day option, because masochism reasons. I know cancer has hit a great many of you on here in varying ways, so this felt like a very worthwhile cause to put the effort in for.
Also, for everyone who hates Evri constantly losing your parcels, they will be matching any donations up to £500, so give generously to help screw them over a bit.
I’ve put a few quid in to help you both on your way. 2k of ascent is a lot of ascent (at least it is if you live in the Thames valley !). Good luck !
25 years ago researchers with CRUK funding used the facility I was running to study DNA damage and repair which, when the repair goes a bit wrong, is the start point for many cancers. CRUK spent their money carefully then and I guess they still do.
For anyone interested, this is the classic Llangollen Round:
The route for the sponsored event is slightly different because it starts in the centre of Llangollen itself, and we head south to meet the route, so it’s about an extra 1 km on what’s on the map there.
