I bet the Gary Glitter tribute was disappointed when he saw the age of the crowd :rofl:

An inexplicable omission…

In many cases,I’d rather watch some of these cover bands in a small venue at sensible prices, over a ridiculous ticket price at an awful arena

I don’t drink,but if I did,I’d be smuggling in some alcohol

Not a chance at that venue, security is massive , you go through searches & scanners. Claire got pulled for a bag search.

TBF, there’s a great pub right next door, The Victoria Tap, so we had a few in there before and after. Only had that one in the Arena.

I chuckle about getting patted down at gigs.

I know they have to do it, but really, I’m so old that the only threat I present is that I might clutch my chest and keel over mid-gig.

Can’t say I have ever been to a covers band gig and probably never will.
There are some amazing young artists around playing small venues to whom ticket sales and selling a few CDs is the only way they can support themselves.
Although I appreciate that care in the community should extend to mothball-smelling, whistling-hearing-aid, lumbago-infested, piss-soaked old nodders, so I suppose they have a place.

I was at the O2 last week and having come straight from work had a bag with laptop etc and was directed towards the scanners.
A woman behind me was muttering about why this was happening and what a pain it was.
I felt like saying ‘Don’t you remember what happened in Manchester?’ but I couldn’t be arsed.

Mate has got us tickets for The Smiths Ltd at the Met in Bury in September.

Should be alright that.

Reopens on April 19th.

By the look of it, it’s a bit of a soft launch with a series of @Mrs_Maureen_OPinion’s favourites - tribute acts: Nirvana UK, The Smyths, Definitely Mightbe and UK Foo Fighters.

Damn, wish I was one of the kool kids, too… :sob:

Idris Ackamoor cancelled. Boo.

Off to see the Bonnacons Of Doom.28th March.

The Delines are playing Cambridge, Chester and Portsmouth in June if they’re convenient for anyone. Look like warm-ups for The Black Deer festival.

These 5 youngsters from Leeds are playing the Lescar in Sheffield tomorrow. Think I might wander down there.
LATER: a good gig, apparently their first booking outside Leeds.

Chance would be a fine thing, but I’m not really feeling this bill at all.

It all feels a bit MOR / heritage.

I have heard of the majority of the acts, which sort of proves your point!
