Well, up there with Windhand for gig of the year so far 
Katie Spencer again, this time solo (which, on consideration, I prefer). Definite echoes of “Come Away With Me” in the new album, which I reckon is no bad thing.

Had a quick dip into her solo releases - not entirely a fan of the whole tracks, but it’s quite clear she has some serious drumming skills, including mad time signature stuff.

I’m really looking forward to it. Only seen them live before once and that was at a festival so will be great to see them in a smaller venue with their own set up.
Yep, a first for me and also looking forward to it. First gig in many moons to be honest. Last I think was Goldfrapp at the Roundhouse.

Saw them both over 20 years ago, when John Smith was just starting out, she certainly took him under her wing.
Seen him solo a few times, also when he played guitar for Lisa Hannigam

I moaned earlier in the year that his photos are always so much better than mine.
It’s easy once you know the basics, he says.
It turns out that he got 3 years of photography tuition at school while I was doing useful stuff like ancient Greek.

I have the Electric Six guitar pick and set list kicking around the house somewhere 
Back from two hours of sitting at the feet of guitar maestro Clive Carroll, who played a lot of John Renbourn tunes, plus jazz, ragtime and self-composed numbers. Really nice guy, happy to chat and full of enthusiasm and knowledge. What an evening!! At the Black Swan, York.
PS he played Pete Seeger’s banjo parts in the film “A Complete Unknown”. The actor eventually chosen (after Benedict Cumberbatch dropped out) had to mime to Clive’s interpretation of the music.

Kraftwerk at The Liverpool Empire, I’ll be disappointed if it’s not The Steve Gibbons Band supporting. It was always him when I was at school.

Two tickets in the front row for Kraftwerk at the Nottingham Concert Hall.
I was second row last time, so I’ve upgraded. Their concert venue tours have superb sound and I can’t wait.
