Leeds trio Lonan tonight at my local folk club. They have a new album out, so bought a copy. A bit of a sweaty dash to get there after the unaccompanied song session at another pub lower down the hill.

Most excellent dude.
20 minute track, 5 minutes bass feedback while we fiddle about, and repeat.
Neander, wherever the hell they’re from, German by the accent?, were very good. Psyclona, the guy couldn’t hold a note, were not.
Anchor tenants for the next two days are Neptunian Maximalism and Castle Rat, both upstairs early evening, but as ever I’ll wander around and find something I enjoy.

The bookers always underestimate this band; they’re a big stage act.
Highlight of the weekend was Neptunian Maximalism / NNMM. 50 minutes of doom-tinged Hawkwind IMO. Also making me optimistic because we weren’t all white and male. One woman was maybe playing a bouzouki? It had two strings.
The soundcheck was hilarious with a tiny bespectacled young woman going “We haven’t checked my voice. Ti ti, fa fa, lo lo, [banshee scream that made half the audience jump out of their skins]”
Anyway, that’s a wrap, slightly early bath, and I suspect the last one.

I’ve seen him quite a few times but that was next level.
The guy on the merch table (who I think is the CIS boss) said either “on fucking fire” or “fucking on fire”. I think it was the latter but I think the former sounds safer.
