Glastonbury 25

Haha I spoke too soon there.

Doesn’t look like they are live streaming from the glade.
Guessing it maybe put up tomorrow which is a pain

Sat listening to Neil Young .

TBF he’s sounding pretty good. Always had him on in the day.

Glad we tried it.

Interested to see a wide shot and the depth of the crowd.

Love the set up, tight band not spread all over the stage. No fancy lighting. Feels like a jam session in a small venue, just happens to be in front of tens of thousands in a field.

Unexpectedly enjoyed Ezra collective. They genuinely seemed to be putting something positive, joy filled and uplifting into the festival

Just finished watching Neil Young.

All the haters can fuck the fuck off, a couple of hours of great music that I grew up with. No frills, no autotune, no lip-syncing. Just a 79 year old bloke jamming with his band to a back catalogue that would make most artists from the last 30 years weep.

Absolute. Fucking. Legend.

Yep, he played track after track you wanted to hear, and looked like he was loving it.

Did he do day in the life?

Not sure I even know a Neil Young track, so meh !

I liked it. But he shouldn’t have had the Saturday night main stage. The crowd didn’t fill even the middle. Shame.

They messed up the whole balance as the rush for the garbage on the other stage caused issues apparently.

Scissor Sisters are gamefully camping it up now!

Dochii went hammer & tongs - not quite my bag but as a polished performance / spectacle (Americans do this well) it was quite atomic - Kind of like those keep fit classes where the instructor shouts a lot and has probably had one too many Weetabix. Aggressively Sexual, her ensemble head to toe in Westwood, it was interesting to see the direction of Hip Hop in 2025. As shrinking violets go - she isn’t one.

This is the review I read (haven’t seen the set, yet):

“With brilliant dance routines, production and sizzling charisma, this flawless performance is the best I’ve seen all weekend…”

I am by no means a Portishead fan but I thoight Beth Gibbons put up a decent set.

It was the antithesis of this

…which in many ways is where my inner old git struggles to come to terms with the core ethos of Glastonbury today. Setting this personal tug-o-war asside (Picturing this set at any other festival) It was a production and a half.

In completely unrelated news, a doorman once did the ask the stupid question thing to me when I was entering a club many years ago in an attempt to knock me back.
What have you got on under you jacket? Expecting me to unzip it for inspection.
Vivienne Westwood
That shook him, he hesitated. I walked straight past.
Good night was had. Made me happy.

Really? I think they are one of the finest to come out of this country. Beth G is a unique talent although I do think Portishead were greater than the sum of their parts.

My take so far
Not my musical bag but I thought the Lewis Capaldi set was really heartwarming, You could feel the affection from the crowd hoping he nailed it after a two year absence from performing.
Bob Vylan have just increased their exposure and streams by 10000% fair play to them.
Kneecap set was bouncing and will probably be regarded as the highlight of the festival though I had only seen bits of it from streams.
Loved Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts. Thought he nailed it, set up perfect and set list almost. Only disappointment for me was no Out On the Weekend.
Enjoyed Gary Numan.
Maribou State were great.
Dochii, not my preferred cup of tea musically but that was a fckin show.
Still got a few to catch up on as I was at a gig last night but good so far.
What I haven’t seen so far is a an Idles or Viagra Boys pure energy set yet. Maybe I just haven’t found it yet or it’s still to come.

Maybe you should rectify that.

Didn’t expect to find this on iPlayer although slightly tucked away. Suspect will be taken down when the DG gets a call Glastonbury - KNEECAP - BBC iPlayer
