Golf (aka, how to dress like a nonce)

Not allowed near those. It is around 7400 yards from them.
Ian Poulter and his son will be playing.
Mate is volunteering as a walking scorer. He didn’t get through the first round of qualifying.

Started bogey, birdy. Then an issue with chipping gave me a triple on the third. Rest was good in patches and a bit less good in others.

Good weekend though. Finished off with bbq on the beach yesterday.

Scheffler in a different class at the Open, approach play impeccable.

Shame the weather was so benign, would have been much better if the wind had blown.

He didn’t do too badly in the early rounds when it was pissing down!
Scheffler is a class act, generally the others win when he has a bad day, if he is in form no one comes close.
I expect him to join Rory, Tiger and the others with a career grand slam by winning the US Open within the next couple of years.

Astonishing performance from Lottie Woad.
Winning the Scottish Open on her debut turning professional.

Hard luck Charley Hull.
Valiant effort, but second again!

Justin Rose!
Nerves of steel.
If you wanted one man to be standing over the putt to win the Ryder Cup he would be the man!

That was a great win.

Felt for Tommy. That putt was in all day until it hit that spike mark.

So it turns out, it is actually possible for something exciting to happen on a golf course:

The Ryder Cup is just teeing off!

Unfortunately I can’t watch it.
Not sure I could tolerate the US fans tbh

They were pretty noisy at the first tee that’s for sure.
Europe up in three matches at the moment so they are fairly quiet

3-1 to Europe after the foursomes.

Born In The USA blaring out from the PA.
I always wonder if Americans ever listen to the verses!

I doubt it!

If they did would they get it

Wonderful start!

An American sports columnist was bemoaning the so called home advantage saying that apart from the first tee the crowd was largely silent.
He blamed this on pricing keeping the average New Yorker away, who would have been far more vociferous.
Friday tickets to the Ryder Cup were $749.51 at face value, plus fees. Over $1000 on resale sites.

They can shove their “in the hole” where the sun don’t shine. Ole, ole ole ole!
