The original and deservedly-classic middle member of the Direkt dynasty, these are the best pair of 2-way floorstanders I’ve ever owned, and the only such I’ve ever encountered which manages to seamlessly integrate a 10" mid-bass with a tweeter - helped by the tweeter’s shallow waveguide - which also means that imaging is excllent and baffle-diffraction a non-issue: clever stuff!
They’re very easy to drive - quality is the key, anything from 20WPC upwards will do the job. The sound is on the warmish side of neutral. Bass is excellent, but not room swamping thanks to the base-porting. I have heard these in a tiny box room less than 3x3m - and they sounded excellent; larger space are obviously not a concern.
This pair is in good condition aside from a shallow dent in the side of one: it hasn’t penetrated through the lacquer finish, and is actually hard to spot unless you know it’s there. I’ll try and get a picture of it if required - just let me know.
They come with boxes, packaging, accessories and paperwork of course.
£2,500 new, I’m looking for £1,100. Transport by negotiation - at least it’s possible to lift these!
In 2024, I’d be amazed if you could get something like this from Lincolnshire to Edinburgh for anywhere near as little as that. The fuel alone would come to that.
You’d be just one part of his load. He’d be delivering a variety of stuff at different locations all the way down the road to London and vice versa on the journey home. IIRC my chum paid just a bit more than that to get a set of Lockwood Majors from the south west of England to Glasgow.
heard johns biggens and he rated the small ones also so am interested cant stretch to 5k though lol ime not quiet there with 1.1k yet hence my reservation , got a loaded cc though but thats going to do us no good otherwise i would .
In a couple of weeks time I could get them as far as Morpeth, Northumberland for you FOC. I’m driving there in any case and while PE11 isn’t exactly en route a diversion would be worth it just for half an hour in Paul and Sam’s (maybe only Paul’s since I’ll be driving on the Thursday) excellent company. I’ll be in Morpeth for the long weekend.
I used to send pairs of these around by Parcel force without problems. Each one weighs less than 30 Kg and the foam pieces that cocoon each one are incredibly effective at protecting them. Check how much it’d be booked through parcelmonkey or similar. I bet it’s less than £25 in the UK.
