The point is it’s better than nothing. The chances (Kedar excluded) of any of us hearing some of these systems in person is very slim.
Its like photocopying a hi res image to show how good hi res is

Because you lose the resolution. How do you expect a low res copy to demonstrate his res benefits?
A photocopy of a low res image would look worse non? Words loose resolution too.

It is suggestive. That is to say, it’s better than nothing.
I guess I’m engaging with this one a little simply as I’ve run my business on the back of short films for close to 20 years now so I see a very different side of this coin to many here it appears. Do they capture everything in the sound? NO. Do they offer an insight? I believe they do, at least the feedback I receive suggests so. Instagram / YouTube etc allow people to see and hear (admittedly in a limited fashion) something they would not get to see and hear otherwise. I sometimes find it astonishing that 750,000 people would want to watch a record turn on a platter on my YT, but they have. Strangely 38,000 people follow my Instagram account, again to watch records go round and hear a 1 min tune. Sure it’s not for everybody but it seems some people are cool with it. When you look at the readership figures of print mags it’s easy to see where things are heading. If a picture paints a 1000 words perhaps a compressed digital file offers at least a glimpse. ?

I was going to say this would be good. I was listening to the differences between the first two systems and wanted the same music 
Oh it may show differences but with such compression it dont think it will be a meaningful comparison.
I honestly think its pointless.
I like to see these systems to be honest.

Fair enough, I’m well aware of the downsides, I just happen to see some ups too.
I’d agree, you can definitely hear a difference in clarity, bass and presentation. I’d rather listen to a digital representation of a real high end system on you tube than never get to listen to one at all.
Edit: Hopefully just not fucking Jazz all of the time.

Hi most of the videos linked in my channel will be heard by me in person, including the Cessaro zeta and the gamma, and the Altec 817. Only if there YT channel is someone else’s they won’t be. The vyger Atlantis Hank Mobley wasn’t heard by me at that time but a subsequent iteration of the system was listened to at regular intervals over two years
