Oh to be transported back. If only for a day
I admit to enjoying a lot of these videos, however I agree with others that they are somewhat compromised and limited in what you are getting.
For instance I cant tell what driver integration and coherence is like which is often the breaking point in these set ups for me
They could be a lot more useful if Kedar has established some form of protocols so that ‘compares’ has some form of consistency/basis to start from…
In recording closer you may get a better defined sound and more impact, but it starts to be (potentially) less representative of the sound you experience as the listener…I guess the question is what are we trying to achieve; the best video we can or some form of representation of that system at that time with that music…
Hi my other thread on horn video compares has common recordings playing across horns.
The problem happens when most are good and at a similar level without contrasts. In that other thread I have shown a couple of contrasts. Your point of coherence is easily captured in the video compare of the dual FLH to the Wilson that I have posted on that thread. The Altec 817 and the tad 4003, both dual FLHs, are among the most coherent I have ever heard and this comes out in the videos.
This thread was just to get everybody’s video angst out and align everyone on basic 101 course.
Just thought I’d post this again to place a little context in terms of listening - This guy is deaf.
On another forum discussion on pros and cons of videos started 4 years ago. Some people are repeating the same thoughts they had 4 years ago. They do so every few months. So can take longer than PhD
I feel i dont really know how to watch a video, is there a YT for dummies course?
This it
Yea, not helping me. I really need a simple version.
I find your response really quite polite. I would have started with ‘get to absolute fuck ye pompous cunt’, but yours is fine.
I will go back to my happy place.
The struggle was real.
Okay I will bite, so I don’t really like the music, performance or way its recorded but what is it that you feel means it is a bad reproduction?
Muddied, closeted, not free, not natural, meh tone. Why would you pay for this over normal Bose speakers?
Probably sounds better in person
How do you know what it’s been recorded on?
Ok, record enough in person and play back and then extrapolate. I find all Magicos I have heard in person sound that way.
