No Preventative medicine, not really had anything like this before although I do have peripheral neuropathy but every test I have says i do not have the abattoir affliction (the diabetus) which is the usual cause so there’s that.
Probably got some really nasty twitching awful but unfortunately I can’t see a specialist until December to find out exactly what. Doppler test was good, nerve conduction not so much so not sure. The gout is just the icing on the cake, would probable be worse if my nerves actually worked correctly so silver lining.
Signed up for a free PSA test at the golf club in a few weeks.
I know 4 people who had an early diagnosis and succesful treatment for Prostate cancer last year.
There is a charity working with the NHS who are providing the testing.
Golf clubs seem a natural place to find at risk men

Also the PSA test requires you to have not ejaculated or exercised heavily within the last 48 hours, so again the golf club is the ideal place to offer the screening

Five now Kevin. A few weeks back I asked my doctor to do a standard diabetes, cholesterol checks as I hadn’t done any for a while and he added a PSA. The upshot is I have prostate cancer. My local hospital have been brilliant. I have had all the relevant scans and biopsy (not a pleasant experience) The thing is I have no noticeable symptoms so if I hadn’t had the PSA I would be oblivious. Fortunately it has not spread beyond my prostate. Pre op appointment next week.
I can’t be arsed to get depressed about it and have been pretty much carrying on as normal. I have never had any major health issues throughout my life up to this point so I count my blessings for that. It’s a lottery.

The first test, the one I am talking about and linked to, is a simple blood test.
What is so hard to understand? You are not normally this thick
I would have thought that given your past links with the NHS you would be encouraging people to have a blood test, not acting like a schoollboy and sniggering about fingers up the bum.
Fingers crossed all goes well for you Nick - prostate tumours vary in severity, and I’m hoping yours responds well to treatment
