How actually do you feel?

As promised, it sure took my mind off all my other problems :+1:.

Good morning all. Just had an appointment with the GP.

The hostile atmosphere at work had started to have an effect on my mental health; fuck all energy to do stuff on days off; not cleaning car like I usually do; not cleaning the flat as often; cancelling meeting up with friends with poor excuses.

I’ve become increasingly plain speaking at work to; most recently taking a manager to task about a piece of late paperwork that I needed. Nothing that isn’t Employment Law unfriendly; just raised a few eyebrows.

I must thank some fellow Meatmen here though for the Personal Messages and advice and everyone here for providing laughs with the banter which has (just about) kept me (relatively) sane.

I’ve at least a couple of weeks off now with options to extend, which gives me time to make use of the resources offered by the Surgery- Talking Therapy, etc as well as catching up with friends and decompression time.

There is a lot going on at the moment; the Hostile atmosphere started after I engaged with the Local MP and a well known Transport Organisation to get Meal Relief Facilities re-instated.

I didn’t have the support of the (then) recognised TU Representative whos spent time cunting me off behind my back.

I also asked my Local MP for help in getting Covid-19 Secure Measures implemented as the company was slow to roll these out.

Highlighting dangerous faults with buses (damage to bodywork; exhaust gas leaks into the saloon; oil leaks and more) and covering my backside with emails and pictures hasn’t helped, but it is necessary in order to protect my licence…

This shit has been going on for about five years; on top of that, the Pandemic and losing a good friend earlier this year; yeah, this old bus had become a bit overloaded…

Hope the break gives you chance to unwind and reach a calmer perspective on things.

Take them up on the Talking Therapy offer. It really helped my daughter a lot.

Make the best of the break. Sounds like like you need it, I’m sure it will do you the world of good.

Sorry to hear it’s all getting a bit much at the moment. Not good at suggesting advice in these situations except when I a bit down I do try and get of the house for some kind of trip/treat.

Perhaps a bit too close to work but plenty of vintage bus stuff this month that might be up your street. I might even have run on some of the Hendon trips later in the month myself.

Happy to be one of the freaks. Not the same but work is a bit stressful at the moment as my team is 30% down at the moment and learnt by 76 year old mum has breast cancer yesterday. So decided to take today a short notice leave which my boss was supportive of.

As others have said do try and get signed off if you can. In the meantime we all expect to see pictures enjoying a friday pizza and a beer in the sunshine today.

Sorry to hear that Paul. Hope your Mum recovers very soon. :+1:

I’ll say it again - BIG respect to you for standing-up for what’s right Stu - if more people took the attitude you do, this cuntry wouldn’t be half so fucked-up as it is. An extra dollop of respect for being so open and forthright about it and its effects on you, again setting a positive example.

Here’s a thought that strikes me: I know buses are meat and drink to you, but is it perhaps time to switch them to ‘Hobby Mode’ and consider transferring your skill-set to something with slightly fewer cunts getting right in your face, &c - and by that I’m thinking HGVs.

Better money, no plague-carrying fucktards abusing you through 5mm of plexiglas, &c &c. Dunno if you have the licence, but if not - as our very-own @edd9000 can advise - haulage companies are recruiting untrained wannabes, and you’d be at a big advantage with your PSV skills.

No matter how much you love your job, it’s not worth letting it damage your health - life’s too short for that.

Driving trucks is great :+1:

I’d imagine you would have all the same issues in the wrong company.

Gist Hemel and Enfield are always looking. And training would be provided at the Spalding site where I was put through.

My mum had stage 3 breast cancer in 2018 when she was 70.

She had a lumpectomy, radiotherapy, chemo and a course of injections and tablets (for the next 5 years). She’s only 4’ 10" so they got her initial chemo dose wrong which resulted in a nasty bout of bacterial pneumonia and a stay in ICU. She’s been taking some tablets (no idea what) that have a side effect of brittle bones and she was recently complaining of hip pain, after a huge amount of nagging from us all she went to see a specialist and turns out she had broken her thigh bone and it had reset itself which was the source of the pain.

Mums are as tough as fucking nails and put us whinging malingerers to shame.

She was declared cancer free in 2020 :birthday: :birthday: :birthday: :birthday:

If you want a chat or have any questions feel to PM (I’m a typical bloke so don’t know all the ins/outs) also if your mum has any questions I’d be happy to pass them on to her.

PS Macmillan are fucking legends.

God that you are stepping back for a bit. Hope it goes well for you.

Hope they caught it early enough and can do something about it.

Thanks for the offer. May chat when we know what the next steps are. Waiting for a CT scan and also if surgery is an option, which will depend on the view of a anaesthetist. She does have a number of conditions which may prevent this.

However you’re certainly right they are tough as nails. Mum had a stroke 8 years ago impacting both her physically and mentally but has seen massive improvement even over the past two years. However in the summer she got a bad UTI and went down hill very quickly to be the point she was discharged back to the care home and the GP put in place an end of life plan. This was in August but she has bounced back and is a fit as she was back in June.

Thanks for all your kind words/offer of support.

Sorry to read about your Mum’s diagnosis. Taking some time off to digest the news strikes me as a very good idea. The NHS have been brilliant with my case so I hope they are similarly on the ball with your Mum.

Time to look after yourself for a bit, take as much time out as you need and let the tossers stew in their own juices for a while :+1:

Trivial as it is compared to what some of you are dealing with, I had my flu and covid jabs yesterday, and man do I feel fucking shite today. As the temp in the house is barely into double figures thanks to the failed boiler, I’m feeling a mite sorry for myself. It’s currently pissing with rain and the dogs are nagging for a walk… Yeesh.

Sorry to hear of your woes. What’s up with your boiler?

I know it’s a numbers game getting the cv and flu jabs in quick, but my brother was saying that he has spoken to quite a few people who have been pretty poorly after having both together

I was lucky getting them 2 weeks apart, not by choice, just the way it worked out.
