How actually do you feel?

Indeed. But as I said, we do have an Iceland and a Home Bargain for those unlucky enough to be less commodius of wallet (like me).

I did a stint in that iceland , the manager fucking hated me, i also had a saturday at the fruit and veg place towards queens drive

That fruit and veg is the one I was on about. I live on Queens Drive about 5 minutes walk from both.

I went to The Holt school (don’t think it’s called that now) on Queens Drive, right next to the Fiveways roundabout. :+1:

They’ve changed the name to something like the The Childwall School. It specialises in Sports and Science allegedly. I used to go to the Oak Vale NHS Center they built on the site when we lived in Wavertree. I don’t go up there much these days as it is all on the other side of Allerton Road and I am a pedestrian when I’m out and about.

It that big pub still there on the Fiveways roundabout (called The Fiveways iirc)?

For once in my life I’m not being facetious when I say that as a subset of fairly wealthy people migrate to working from home as the norm, the home HVAC and control market is going to have a significant opportunity if they have the hardware for it. Perhaps a pivot rather than a completely new opportunity?

Yep. I have never been in it though. It looks a bit ‘chicken in a basket’ for my tastes. TBH we never go up to that part of Liverpool unless we are going to Aintree or to Manchester. There is not much of interest there.

Me neither, only once or twice. My fave haunts were the Childwall Abbey, The Falstaff, Mosley Hill Tavern and The Albert in Lark Lane :+1:

This I know well. I’ve not been in since they renovated it.

That is Mossley Hill @Jim. They must have renamed that as I don’t know it. Is it on Rose Lane? If so it is now The Rose of Mossley Hill.

It has been knocked down now and is a load of ugly as sin executive homes opposite an Aldi. I only know this because my dentist is on the opposite corner.

The Childwall Abbey is still there

That is more Gateacre though and again we don’t go up there much. It looks OK though so may be worth a visit once things settle down a bit.

even without WAH someone can come and install AC here tomorrow, if i could find a contractor that doesn’t behave like a used HiFi salesman

Yes, that’s the one. Gateacre, yes, my childhood home was just off Woolton Rd, by the Black Woods.

A haunt of mine especially sunday afternoon

It was always a place you could score weed and have a joint in the back

I suspect I was there a bit before your time John (mid/late 70s) I was in the pool team!

Did you play at Anfield with Jimmy Tarbuck? or did he come after your generation?

The pool table was still there in the mid to late 80s, always played good music in there.

There were always great cellar parties round those big houses by the park, i forget the name of the street but you could go to four different places in one night , they all had proper bars set up

It hadn’t changed much then. We went to watch a Champions league final there one year. I can only remember the fact that our bench in the window collapsed under us and the landlord simply remarked that he had been meaning to fix it for ages. No apology, no free drink. Anywhere else I would have taken offence. In The Albert that was par for the course. They cleared some of the debris and found us some chairs.
