We did, of course, have that nice LFE following the avian flu outbreak that recommended things like stockpiling ventilators. Duly ignored of course, that was years ago.
Daughter was playing outside in the sun. The girl next door came to her window and started talking to her; they often would play together in the olden days. They’re about 5m apart and the window is very small. I popped my head out and assured mine that it was fine to chat, as long as they kept apart.
Ten seconds later the neighbour’s window was slammed shut by a parent.
There don’t seem to be any remotely reliable numbers emerging from that part of the world, and at best won’t be for many months. The fear at the moment is that fear itself will end-up kiling a fuckton of people before the virus gets a chance…
Watched a piece on the news last night about Bangladesh which appeared similarly ominous. They need Peter Hitchens wandering about down there telling them that it’s all perfectly normal, no need for lockdown or any sort of over reaction as it’s the preservation of their economy that’s of the most importance. We’re going to need cheap, readily disposable clothes again as soon as this passes.
