Why do so many ads say Voyd the Voyd?
I just find it irritating.
Possibly because the badge on the back does say “The Voyd Turntable”
Which was fine, until they made three other models, so it could help to differentiate it from the Voyd Valdi, the Voyd 0.5 Reference, and the Voyd Reference
Because most people are lazy, badly-educated scuffers that barely know that quotation marks exist, much less how to use them in the interests of clarity.
The early ones carried a badge which read Designed by Philip Voyd. Made by ETA Products where ETA stood for the English Turntable Authority (as if there was some official government body set up to make turntables of an approved standard.)
When I went to AI & Guy Adams carried on he may have changed the name or set up a new company called Voyd Turntables (I can’t recall) but I liked the idea of a Turntable Authority although Philip Voyd was always a figment of someone’s imagination. Reviewers at the time bought into both stories though which was funny.
I can’t remember who showed it to me?
But Guy apparently the sign listing the various businesses is still there in Cheltenham and it still lists Voyd turntables ltd.
Hi Simon
If it was me, I would simply list it as For sale The Voyd Turntable.
And add things like.5 reference or full reference or Voyd Valdi.
I thought he might’ve registered it as a limited company. I couldn’t recall.
It appears LW is claiming credit for Phil A. Voyd…
Memories are strange things.
The only reason Scalford ever happened was because of Richard Dunn (According to Richard Dunn)
An interesting interpretation. I don’t think LW managed to extract a ‘licence’ fee from any of the makers of multi motor decks around that time, arguably because the idea wasn’t new.
The earliest record I subsequently found of this kind of multi motor drive system being applied to a suspended sub chassis turntable appeared in the French magazine L’audiophile back in the 1970s & authored by a CH Delaleu. If anyone pioneered the concept it was him. I do have the article somewhere.
Something interesting that LW was talking about on his FB page was this project that didn’t far.
A valve pre amplifier in collaboration with Doug Dunlop (Concordant Audio)
A front panel was as far as it got.
I have no time for him, his frankly racist anti Chinese or Asian comments were frequently deleted by the mods at PFM with no consequences because he was so idolised there.
