They look like enormous headphone cusions, with just a hint of Whale Anus.
Circularly-enough, I seem to recall the Romans used ambergris to flavour wine
I had a crush on her when I was a kid…
LMAO
They are probably Neo mags…
Wut? No Field Coils?
More boxes, cables, faff…
The 4 woofs I can identify as B&C 15NDL76 - 15" 500W. ~£200.
4.8kgs each.
The 6 4" are probably B&C 4NDF34 4" 100W. Judging by the pointiness of the enclosures. £48 each.
0.45kgs each.
The comp driver a Faital Pro could be a 140 or 144. Can’t see the label clearly £175 - £185, 2 - 2.5kgs.
So drivers alone for one enclosure £2073. Weighing just 23.9kgs.
Neo mags pile on the £’s but add lightness.
Wonder what the 3d printed horn and outer shell weigh?
How much damping etc?
If he’s smart the print medium will have a high graphite content. Bitumen would engorge both weight and authority!
Further interesting features;
The large indents around the entire edge of the enclosure - what are they?
I did wonder if they were bass reflex ports?
But they would deminish the directivity effectiveness bring placed around like that, rather than in the horn.
Too many of them? Can’t see if they are holes.
Perhaps just securing points?
Also a rather textured surface.
Almost like a fabric.
This is something Cessaro do.
I used sand textured paint on my previous HF Tractrix / Le Cléach horns.
On the SH50s I used textured roller paint.
Texture looks like the usual ridges caused by 3D printing - makes sense to leave them unsanded.
Here’s another slightly smaller one.
Strictly mid bass and up this one.
Uses a B&C BH450 comp driver. 1KHz and up.
4 8" B&C woofs. Spec claims down to 70Hz and that’s what the in use measurements achieved.
No heed paid to the phase coherent Danley approach.
Just 2nd and 4th order? XOs in there by the looks of it. Phase is all over the shop.
Would be interesting to hear the complex horn/waveguide (cat bum) HF someday.
If that was audibly better and becomes the thing, it would be easy to upgrade the HF and MF part of a Danley style / standard conical MEH horn to accommodate a 3D printed section…
So long as there are no lowish phase cancellation nodes, phase shouldn’t really matter acoustically…
Ha, tell that to Danley.
Or any of the clever MEH pioneers.
His mantra is - A changing phase is changing time.
I didn’t really get it until I heard it.
The difference Dom and Pete heard was what I would attribute to the phase coherency.
That and the single point thing, but other speakers can do that in some form or other. Without so much grunt in the bass usually.
