So following on from my recent spur of the moment acquisition of the JBLs I thought I would start a thread to attract ideas and ridicule in unequal measure.
I bought these with the idea of lugging them to Lopwell and potentially other venues, and maybe running a music session at the local Civic Centre(50 yards away) or the tap house etc.
Having a look at the manual, can you see what connectors there are on the bass boxes as the implication from the manual is that there is an input and an output to the high frequency horn?
Are they boxed ? If not they’d fit physically in the back of the Mondeo estate I’m fairly sure. They certainly wouldn’t go in upright though. The easiest fit would be on their sides, face-to-face with a card spacer/protector between. I’ve heard people say you shouldn’t transport speakers lying down (the speakers). I’ve heard others say the people who make them always move them like that.
These are >66kg for the bass box and >23kg for the top horn. No more than a good-sized bloke (each, obvs). So load capacity wouldn’t be an issue. Lifting them in and out might be though.
The spec sheet and Cinema Sound System Manual, available here:
both indicate that the bass cabs in the 4670D cinema system include the N4638 crossover networks, which include an output for the HF pack. However, the photos suggest that isnt the case with these.
If you want to recreate the original passive crossovers, the circuit diagram is available here:
Search for 4638TH and then 4670D
It looks like the crossovers are about $82 each from the US
4 Ohm bass system 100 dB/W, 8 Ohm horn 111 dB/W, crossover at 500 Hz, looks like fun
