Yep, been using it pretty much daily for the last 4 or 5 months

Ok. Well, post a few pics when you can.

Yes, it has a seething red tinge to it.

Looks ok from here.
Does the conical drive shaft feel ok. It should spin easily and turn for a few seconds if you spin with your fingers.
Unplug it first, just incase.

Doesn’t spin for a few seconds, but turns smoothly enough, with no grating or graunching / snagging.

Hmmm…

If you prod the motor’s chassis does it move about on its suspension?

If you hold the conical shaft is should slide forwards and backwards approx. 2mm. Give that a try.

Have a look at these links

Ha, shooduh kept the SP10 :smiling_imp:

…best of luck with the repair

that said… just went through the same with the SP10

Had always had a bit of platter rub from time to time, usually just a case of run the duster over and all good. Couple of weeks back it wouldn’t come right. Figured a worn thrust cap or at least bearing related as the guy I bought it from said the brake had been removed.

Popped the platter off along with the casing for the brake, sure enough, no brake. Made sure the solenoid was clear of anything, as I went to put the lid back on the casing noticed it was upside down and the screws were countersunk. Got it all back together and hooray no rub. Guess the screws must have been catching. Playing better than ever.

Hope your issue is as straightforward

Much appreciate the offer. I might have to take you up on that, eventually.
