And they couldn’t give a definitive answer? Surely they must know, or can find out from Copland what valves the circuit was designed around?
Didn’t seem at all interested.
Looking at the valve compliment it would appear that they are utilizing the two E83CC’s in an initial high gain voltage stage followed by an intermediary phase splitting stage utilizing the two E82CC’s into the EL34’s
However I could be totally wrong about that
There are two valves in the phonostage, 4 in the pre, which are a combination of 4 AU7’s and 2 AX7’s or 4 AX7’s and 2 AU7’s, depending where you read
Confusing and frustrating.
Apologies for the confusion I forgot that it sported a phono stage.
Above post amended to pre / power only.
2X E83CC’s in the phono stage.
This is the curse of Copland - I like their gear and considered representing them as a dealer - distro never replied to emails and a 'phone call must have caught them on a bad day, 'cause it was all a bit “computer says no”. They get almst no promotion in the UK. This wasn’t a rare experience where hifi manufacturers and distributors were concerned.
There aren’t even any manuals (paper or electronic) for the 402 out there !
Their website says Contact and all there is under that is ‘Contact our distributors’. On that basis alone I’d walk away.
Dear lord, even I find time to answer people’s e-mails eventually. And there’s only me here.
VB
Brilliant, thanks
So, it’s 4 AX7’s and 2 AU7’s.
Where was that from; I could only find the 401 diagram ?
Lampizator forum, if it’s the same one I found
Pure fluke: it was on a Polish hifi forum - nothing else there of help.
When I got nowhere with English hifi distributors, I usually got more help from German, Dutch, Belgian, Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish equivalents - because they are less likely to be lazy cunts who think it’s still 1981. Worth google-translating what you you have to say on the basis of manners, but they’re almost always anglophone.
That is nuts. I searched that when I first started looking and only the 401 showed.
Yes, we believe you, honest.
Yea, I know , but I did.
A friend raves about these…Only bettered by bankrupting 70’s NOS Telefunken’s according to him
