Knives and Sharpening

:weary: the ignominy of being corrected by typo-san

Careless.

Bit annoyed, we got a Global 13cm Santoku Knife (GS-109) for Christmas just gone and while cleaning it today, noticed the very tip had snapped off! We have not even really used it that much!
I don’t think I’ll be adding any Global knives to my set, we have a Robert Welch set that we got as a wedding present and they have been excellent, and dishwasher safe as a bonus!

I tend to rotate sets of knives out when they require sharpening so that I always have a sharp set ready to go, currently on the block at this time are Masamoto KS 240mm, 210mm, and 160mm
All Shirogami white No2 carbon steel and a 135mm Shiro Kamo with a cutting core of Aogami Blue No1 steel.

Yup, They seem to have taken a hike since I bought mine … Think it was £199 on sale back then

Jaysus!

Allegedly a repro of an army-issued penknife the late 40s.

I don’t know how true this is, but a very useful little fellow all the same.

And stupidly illegal to carry in UK without good purpose. Knife laws are a complete ass in this country.

.

Why?

Seems to me that lots of people quite like to stab each other up at the moment. Not really adverse to knife laws meself.

if the knife laws as they are, stop one person from being stabbed then they are good as they are.

Perhaps they are not tough enough?

I thought manually folding knives with a <3" blade were legal to carry. Has that changed recently? If so, I am breaking the law every time I go out cycling with a multi-tool in my bag.

No change to the legislation, carry on.
