Apparently it was starting to get interesting in West Croydon; limited Tram service due to a ‘civil disturbance’…
Brisk walk to East Croydon via the back roads from Lloyd Park on way back from work.
Did smell some distinctive smoke.
I’ve still got memories of the 2011 riots; the bit where a normally unflappable Controller tod us to leave West Croydon as soon as possible is something I’ll never forget.
Won’t forget the crowd of people moving down towards WCS by Allders.
That was fucking scary.

You are forgiven.
But you have reminded me that ‘New York, New York’ is merely a clumsy construct by a songwriter desperate to find a way to justify the way that line scans.
They never ‘named it twice’ - evidenced by the fact that nobody calls the place ‘New York, New York’.
It is not a tautology, and therefore has no place in the debate about pedantry that its introduction effectively ended.
Kicking myself that I let this one go.
Gutted, actually. Epic pedantry fail.
There goes my place in the AA Olympic Pedantry Team, before it’s even got off the ground.
