I fear Covid made it clear that we can elect governments in this country who don’t believe that public services need to be able to deal with a crisis. If one should hit we’ll just have to ride it out. In fact the last fourteen years’ worth of government (for want of a better word) didn’t seem to believe that public services should even be able to cope with ‘normal’ (see the NHS, potholes, the care sector, social housing …)
