I don’t think the judge even said “Stop being a pillock”. He just said “You’ve got what you deserved, given what you did, and your lawyer warned you to expect this”. I guess he’s tacitly implying that if she does it again she’ll likely get banged up for at least as long next time.

Presumably in the meantime his passport will have been taken away, so he can’t flee to a sympathetic foreign country and continue causing trouble here while out of the authorities’ reach. Not that he would, of course. Perish the thought.

I suspect the system was really aiming to caution hundreds of thousands (millions ?) of people who might otherwise be tempted to do something similar. Which is A Good Thing.
