Was it not essentially just stolen from the Motown vaults ?
7" pah
It’s an ok track but there’s a shit load of better soul songs out there.

It was their policy to keep x3 of everything - They got hard up with space and so this one popped out (Or something like this)
I don’t think it’s about the music, it’s a Northern end game collectors trophy.
I get that but if I was spunking £10K plus on a 7" single I’d want a better track
I went to see Terry Reid a few years ago (maybe 10 or more) as Diane, a gig buddy was a big fan from way back when, and raved about the River album.
One of the worst gigs I have been to.
He was pissed, his voice was not what it was and he had a huge ego.
He spent most of the gig name dropping when he wasn’t forgetting lyrics.
Diane was really disappointed, sometimes you should just remember them in their heyday.
Same thing with Davy Graham, someone thought it a good idea and that they could make some money wheeling him out for a last hurrah before he died. It wasn’t.
Not always the case however, I saw John Martyn about 6 weeks before he died and he was brilliant.
I never saw John Martyn play. This was a huge mistake on my part.
My biggest regret like that (despite the later shenanigans) was having tickets for a hot new US rock & roll outfit at the Marquee. I had some kind of super paid membership.
Mate & me were actually more interested in the video game machine in the student halls and didn’t bother going to see Guns & Roses.
I know, but 250 capacity venue before the first album came out

My older brother took me to see him in Lucifers (now The Sub Club) Glasgow during a solo stint in 1984.
Being only 16 I didn’t really know much about him but it was mind-blowing when he let loose with the effects pedals - he was literally an arms length away from us.
Saw him once, and then decided I couldn’t justify it on what turned out to be his last tour. Forever gutted doesn’t even begin to cover it. Seeing him live was an absolute peak moment for me and the best gig I’ve ever been to. The band he had with him were just fantastic too.
You dodged a bullet there. I’ve done similar with bands I really like. Top of my list would be Joy Division, but I was a couple of years to young to see them anyway.
I did make a point of going to see a Big Day Out Festival at the showgrounds in Melbourne with the likes of Green Day () and Blink 182 (
) playing just to see Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. They played on a shitty stage in a car park to about 300 mesmerised people and were fucking stunning. I was thrilled that Melbourne’s yoof were off watching some American bollocks or other on the main stage so we could really enjoy Strummer’s gig in comfort without a load of chattering fucknuggets spoiling it. Joe, as he was every time I saw him, was marvelous. Full of fire and energy…and taken soon after…
