You’ll miss my sloe gin then.
Dogs actually not allowed, or could you bring it? Be funny to see if we could actually make it spherical over the course of a weekend

A curious criteria
I know I was surprised, Jon lopwell sent me a message yesterday telling me he had started collecting wood in preparation, he will be there around 2-3 ish
This is probably me over reacting but if any one has any kind of lurgy and is going to Lopwell please let me know.
I am having full (both jaw) implant surgery on Thursday 18th June and absolutely cannot have any cold or infection. I need to be able to breathe through my nose for 3-4 hours!
I am paying a bloody fortune for this procedure and really can’t risk it.
I am seriously considering not coming at all.
The worst thing about minor infections is that people are often infectious before they have symptoms. If avoiding infection is critical then getting back to the Covid thing of having your groceries delivered and going over them with an anti-microbial wipe might be worth it.
On a point of detail, if the only issue is nasal congestion then it might be possible to do something about that. Mucus plays some part in it but it’s mostly caused by inflammatory swelling of nasal tissues. Sinex and many other decongestants work not by drying up mucus but by interfering with the inflammation process so the swelling goes away and we can breathe. After my sinus surgery I was put on some medium-powerful steroidal nose drops for 90 days to stop inflammation (these). During that time I’m pretty sure I caught a cold. I had all the symptoms except that my nose didn’t block at all. A bit runny but completely open.
Since it’s nearly impossible to avoid exposure to colds (stay away from primary school age kids though) I wonder if your medics might think anti-inflammatories would be a good idea. The nose drops take a few days to start working.
I fear none of this matters though. The blocked nose might be one feature but my experience of medics is that they don’t want to touch you at all if you might have any kind of infection, no matter how many of the symptoms you might have dealt with.
Well I don’t want to put a downer on anything Kev, but I think you are mental if you don’t think sharing confined spaces with c.15 people for two days is going to carry a risk.
Sorry to say that if I was in this situation that I’d probably choose temporary isolation as the lowest risk strategy to avoid infection
Just got over a horrible cold that got in the way of a very busy time. I doubt I’m now infectious but there is a proper heavy cold going around.
Best to stay at home, I think ![]()
I’m no expert but happy to offer a solid 3 / 10 Lopwell hygiene rating.
I’ve been doing that since September as I’m in treatment and it’s crucial that I don’t catch a lurgy. It’s meant forgoing a lot of things, but it’s also meant I’ve come right through till now without even a whiff of a cold. And got a shitload of creative work done, without outside distractions. Sometimes you just have to commit to what’s occurring.
If you’re unwell for the op, they are surely going to defer it, rather than cancel and laugh at you taking all your money.
Alternatively we could make it a masked event, to go with the capes.
How am I gonna mog with a mask and cape on?
Suprisingly hard decision as I really wanted to go to Lopwell, if only to increase the carbon footprint of @Wayward ‘s purchases and lost property!
Sadly head has overruled heart and I am going to have to give Lopwell a miss.
The closer the op is getting the more anxiety I am feeling, it is a major procedure and involves quite a healing process and I have to give myself the best chance. ![]()
Will miss you all.
Will miss you Kev, but I am sure it’s the right thing for your peace of mind.
I can post some curry on Monday
My daughter has double jaw surgery coming up on the 25th of this month. The recovery is over 6 months and looks to be, shall we say, taxing, to say the least !
