Machine Learning / AI / SkyNet / Fields of Skulls

Been using that for the past 4 or so years with no problem,
It also lets me message my GP to ask for stuff that is not on my repeats and lets me change the pharmacy I want to use.
It messages when the script has been approved.
Works very well in my experience.

Me too.

We really have slept walked into a time when we are generally happy to own less but pay rent on far more.

I recently looked into some photography software only to discover it can no longer be bought outright, but must be rented monthly with photos then residing in the cloud, no doubt the price will creep upwards over time and it ain’t cheap to start with.

It’s a business model that suits industry, guaranteed income stream ( no doubt with an ability to trade that income stream) with endless possibilities for upsales of addons, many will eventually be essential.

We have done the same with TVs and programmes, Music, Cars, home automation, , fucking doorbells even. Much more of this to come no doubt (housing, more domestic appliances, medical stuff such as scanners, shit i can’t even think of etc) . Redifusion would be proud of this future. No wonder data centres are valuable assets.

Where does the money go… straight out of the country in a lot of cases.

It’s crept up on us over the last 5 to 10 years, it’s been allowed although not something that is a political debate in any sense.

Just some idle thoughts…

Very valid and scary food for thought thoughts though. I’m going to start and try to unwind some of that stuff that I do (Ring and photo storage).

Yeah, I’ve had two people evangelising Ring to me in the last four days.

Just, why?

We like the security aspect.

And depending where you live has a lot of value, evidence is the trade off we gave away too easily to fear

Reolink is a good alternative. Self host the storage, no license fees.

Self surveillance. Cut out the middleman.

Gets very mixed reviews (online, natch). Do you use it ? If so, how reliable is it ?

at the moment - fitting the thread title.. Released in 2025.

Field of Skulls it is!

I have a driveway camera, and a doorbell which I bought because we had a spate of local schoolkids doing knock-a-door run at all hours which was seriously pissing the wife off.

I’ve found them good, with the caveat I am reasonably adept technically, as they maybe they aren’t as consumer-focused as Ring-type products.

OK, thanks.

I’m calling for a pause in development of the universal bone dissolver.

My kids and their friends (age 25 and 21) are all moving away from this in various ways. The vinyl resurgence, my son and many of his mate shooting on film. Small moves but part of a bigger trend.
