Yes, their ‘Superfast’ range were very good. Surprisingly valuable now. This is their Porsche 910. I had a couple of these for some reason & they were both quicker than anything else I had.

When y’all say ‘track’, is this something you made yourselves or were there tracks you could buy?

I never got into Hot Wheels for some reason - have lots of my old Matchbox cars. Funnily enough I took them out for my kids to play with and they all thought they looked old and rubbish, but admitted they ran across the floor (hence my q) much better than their contemporary Hot Wheels!

Actually saw a YT video recently (maybe it was posted on this forum?) about how the quality of these cars has steadily declined since the 70s. It’s quite visible. Will try find it.

I still have all my toy cars including my dad’s dinky Lorry’s.
And all my toy soldiers
And my hornby 00 railway layout
I’ll need to get out of the loft one day.
Don’t want the grandkids seeing them that would be bad.

There were various track systems. Corgi offered a continuous extruded red track where you could run two lengths side by side. They had a start gate & a finish line if you were just doing straight up drag racing but also could offer components enabling loop the loop or high suspended 180 degree corners. If you wanted to make a continuous circuit they also offered a sprung loaded Super Booster which the cars would run into & be shot out of the other side.
Rather annoying voice over but this shows the catalogue. A friend & I pooled our bits and often had quite complicated circuits set up.

Hot Wheels offered a sectional orange track with each piece about 50 cm long & Matchbox did a yellow track also with sections about that length.

LOL, I was expecting a “you betcha” any second. Still better than an A.I. voice

That’s cool!

Interesting, somehow they passed me by. I was always aware of the Hot Wheels orange track, but thought that was the only one. Shame I did’t know about the Matchbox one as I had loads of their cars.

Never got into the track setups, I became obsessed with HO scale slot cars. Had a John Player Special Lotus that was an absolute screamer :chequered_flag:

The Solar System. Fairly small scale. I’ve always wanted an orrery, a word that makes you sound drunk when you say it. Made of finest laser cut chinesium.

Damn nice piece of work :ok_hand:

It was quite a simple kit, but it makes a nice model. Mainly I used it to practice weathering.

It’s a lovely job - looks like it needs a foam wash :ok_hand:

No question, the real skill is in the painting - and that weathering just makes it look way more convincing :ok_hand:

Yeah, the painting’s the bit I’m not great at, but I’m making progress.

You might want to give yourself a bit of a break, because that looks excellent.
