....more armchair politics (Part 1)

Very few councils were going to move in terms of overall control. The interesting results will be LibDem gains in the South. They have the potential to worry Tory MPs.

True, anything to keep prices down, even though it fucks over British farmers.

The radiative fish stuff is normal business. Similar papers were written after windscale and Chernobyl wrt certain upland farmland in the UK.

I heard something about this on the radio. I may be wrong as I wasn’t paying close attention but I think Keir Starmer and Sadiq Khan campaigned there apologising profusely at every opportunity. It probably didn’t hurt that Labour put up quite a few Jewish candidates in Barnet.

Fair play to them, they did the right thing. The previous incumbent, Magic grandpa, was so busy trying to make a theoretical point he forgot what a cunt he had become/perceived to have become (take your pick).

I hadn’t realised that Keir Starmer’s wife is Jewish and their kids are being brought up in that tradition.

The LibDems were hoping to take control of W Oxon. They didn’t manage that (mind, one seat stayed Tory by just 4 votes) but the Tories have lost overall control.

It’s rife across the public sector, split into 200 plus agencies and each with a non exec board, stuffed with people who have vested interests. Below that you have boards and non exec boards at hundreds of stand alone business units within education and the NHS and other departments, then quangos.

By and large, the electorate doesn’t give a shit, public service has become a sham.

Ticks and leeches proliferate

Looks like he’ll change the election narrative by igniting operation much spreader instead.

Think there will be a GE this year. They must know it’s there best shot for another 5 years

Before we go into a prolonged recession eh?

Yes,with that and rising fuel costs in October,it would make total sense for them to go for October or November

The two new Cumbrian councils, one went Labour, the other Lib Dem. The Tories lost 30 councillors, oh dear, what a shame. They couldn’t even win a council that they created in order to win it.

The downside at a very local level is that one Independent in my town got the most votes, racist kipper type, an utter cunt with strong support for to the anti Islamic following he garnered in opposition to an Islamic prayer room.

Well they just called my newly gerrymandered ward in Lambeth - both labour candidates got in.

We’re right on the Lambeth / Southwark border. Southwark is red as a red thing, with a couple of lib dems. I don’t think they’ve called Lambeth overall but it’s a pretty forgone conclusion.
