I watched ‘spiders web’ on netflix last night… it explains why that distribution is never likely to change to London’s detriment

Wales on holiday?

BBC have an article on the price of petrol… one cursory mention of 5p fuel duty reduction (which of course is not enforced) but no mention that the duty and VAT makes up the lion’s share of the total price (below from Lookers website):

% of the Total Cost What you pay per litre
Wholesale cost 33% 55p
Biofuel content 7% 11p
Retailer profit 8% 13p
Delivery costs 1% 2p
Fuel duty 35% 58p
VAT 17% 28p

I saw one news report yesterday saying that Germany’s fuel prices were quite a bit higher than here. Not sure about other EU countries.

If this wasn’t so serious it’d be quite funny seeing Nick Ferrari have everything he believes in being ripped to shreds.

It’s less the absolute cost (you need the costs of everything else to know how much of an impact it makes) more that half the price is tax which the government (with our brexit freedoms!!!) is free to reduce significantly. And the fact that the BBC totally failed to mention how much of the cost is tax including double dipping by the taxman (since he charges vat on the duty I believe)

They’ve got to fund their mad spending somehow. Fuel duty & vat is an easy one.

They’re likely reluctant to reduce tax and vat on fuel as they’re using the windfall to reclaim the furlough money back from the people.

As opposed to clawing it back from all the fraudulent (Matt’s mates etc) or incompetent (T&T, Serco) recipients? Of course.

My mates will offer x1 limp Bakewell and a thick ear.

thats worth 20M and a peerage, please leave the tart in an unmarked container at the side of the M3

I don’t know what other people are seeing but I WhatsApp’ed this to the wife yesterday.

I fill the car maybe twice a year, so it’s really neither here nor there, but you’ve got to feel for people who have to drive to work etc.

Also, what’s with diesel being cheaper than petrol?

It was £2.03 on the M1 the other day. Motorway services, so always excessively priced, but stillmteh first time I’ve ever seen >£2/l

The whole ‘motorway premium’ for fuel is just another piss take… every fucking tanker goes past them so surely they should be cheaper? Gotta love those “market forces”

Still too expensive but M’way services have higher overheads for rent etc.
