....more armchair politics (Part 1)

Ffs…monkey hangers turn gammon… :unamused:

:grimacing:

“The last 10 years of what we have been doing in the Labour Party nationally and locally has brought us to this result, because that is above all fundamentally an explanation of what’s happened today.”

Lord Mandelson went on: "What I would say is this, … we have not won a general election in 16 years. We have lost the last four, with 2019 a catastrophe - the last 11 general elections read: lose, lose, lose, lose, Blair, Blair, Blair, lose, lose, lose, lose.

Sadly there are a few pertinent points here.

I think he understands that we have become a centrist country that will vote left or right of centre, with e tendancy to vote right if the left of centre is too far off course.

One thing is for sure, the left is dead and the non Tory political parties need to realign.

Dozens of Northern seats have been creeping toward a Tory majority for years now, each election saw a handful go over, Hartlepool is just the latest.

Unless a centrist party can make inroads to Southern and Northern seats, well, it’s Tory England all the way.

According to Dominic ‘Dunderfuck’ Cummings

““The centre ground’ DOES NOT EXIST, it’s pundit fiction,” he claimed.”

Newsthump or quote from Richard Burgon?

We have nothing so sophisticated as that, we have a nation of mouth-breathing morons that mostly don’t vote at-all, but when they do, they vote for whoever they see the most on telly and in memes; it doesn’t matter if they’re there for drowning kittens and raping toddlers - that’s the one they remember when painstakingly scratching their X on the piece of paper.

CUNTS!

WTAF, this is just Boris spunking money again for his stupid ideas, I can’t see how the Queen would ever have agreed to this stupid idea

The smart money is on Thomas Heatherwick (of Garden Bridge fame) getting the commission.

Bread and circuses, m8… Bread and circuses…

Wonder which Chinese shipyard she’ll be built in?

And how many years after the queen is dead that the boat will finally be commissioned?

Here’s hoping that Keir Starmer, who generally seems an honest and decent bloke, makes sure that he leads the party into any future elections with some actual policy ideas. Those may also need to be noticeably different to what the Tories are offering.

Sadly I don’t think Starmer will ever cut through with the people he really needs to vote for him and that someone like Andy Burnham may have more success.

As much as I would love some grey, competent politics right now, you’ve got to be able to cut loose to get your message across in the hyper aggressive bear-pit of the media today. It looks like Starmer is so far unwilling or unable to do so.

John Smith could do it; Tony Blair could do it. You’re right, perhaps Andy Burnham could do it but he doesn’t have a seat and it’s a very small pool of other candidates. Grim times for Labour, especially with their presence in Scotland unlikely to recover any time soon.

Also, you need to actually have a message, which in terms of Starmer, I personally am not really aware of. That could be my fault, or his, or that of the media, but whichever, if he has a message, it hasn’t reached me.

Yes, you would think he could do policy. They still seem stuck in the Brexit vortex of the fear of losing what they have. But it seems too late for that now.

I think that’s true. They really haven’t grasped where things have actually got to, and what’s required.

Don’t upset the red wall voters. Oh, they fucked off anyway.

I love how they have convinced the mouth breathers that they are anti Brexit and the hand wringers that they are pro, all at the same time. That takes skill.

They are still picking the splinters out of Corbyn’s arse, 5 years on.
