convenient.
of course if your council also has to pay exorbitant amounts to crap landlords to house people, that won’t help reduce council tax either.
I always presumed council tax was worked out on the value of the property.
That’s what I thought, it was based on house prices from 1990 something.
It is, and properties are divided into bands based on their value in 1990 or something. But then it’s multiplied by the relevant local rate.
So a £200k house in Hartlepool pays more than a £200k house (well, room!) in Wandsworth.
Proper ‘levelling up’ going on there
They could do a bit of levelling up if they used the Jersey method of road tax, by putting a couple of pence on a litre of fuel instead of punishing people who can only afford old cars.
It is, but there is only a max cap, no minimum. Essentially, if you can balance the books at zero council tax, knock your socks out.
I’ve never understood why they don’t do this - especially now insurance is all in a central database.
More miles - more fuel - more tax
Gas guzzler/heavy right foot - more fuel - more tax
Bin the whole ved infrastructure too and no way to dodge it
Perhaps all the homeless in the smoke should move there and the costs to give them a safe, warm and sheltered accommodation be added to the the “services” the rich receive.
The homeless would then pay Band A council tax paid by the local authority.
Result.
Listening to Tory MPs and ministers get ripped new arseholes over photo IDs for voting.
When will MPs ever learn that the idea of government photo IDs of any description is popular in Westminster and about as welcome as a shit in a face mask everywhere else.
Tory twats
At least it will stamp out this mass voter fraud malarkey
And as was pointed out to said Tory cunts a debit card would suffice if needed at all.
Their goal has fuck all to do with voter fraud.
It’s for the NHS and social services, no ID to prove you are entitled = no treatment.
They don’t give a fuck about saving the NHS a few quid, they just want to stop poorer or darker people voting. It’s not subtle.
Which is what Wandsworth Council did for two years in the early 90s.
The leader of that Council (Ed Lister) ended up as an adviser to Johnson when he was mayor.
Got a job with him when he was Foreign Minister
Then became his Chief of Staff when Johnson became PM.
Got knighted and recently became a Baron.(Lord Udny-Lister)
He is adept at facilitating deals and getting paid by both sides and then not declaring any conflict of interest.
That’s one of the more stupid statements I’ve read on here in a while.
Baseless twaddle.
I avoid politics threads usually, but that tipped me over.
What planet are you on? It’s the same playbook trump was using.
It’s ok, you don’t need to demonstrate your idiocy to me, I know.
Indoctrinated really is the only word I can think of.
