Swivel eyed Tory nonsense that Iām not sorry to see the back of:
- Rwanda
- National Service
- Binning ULEZ, LTNs etc.
Stuff that Labour have mentioned that I expect them to implement post-haste
- Renationalise the railways. I believe that there is already a timetable for this as private contracts expire
- Covid corruption enquiry. Far too many people have got away with it thus far due to political protection
- Fix water / sewage. Hopefully incorporating prosecutions for, at the very least, negligence
Also hand-waving about Brexit and green energy, but Iām not holding my breath about those.
Iāve probably forgotten something really important, and Iām sure plenty of people will be along shortly to tell me how deluded and naĆÆve I am, but a boy can dream.

Employment law and renterās rights. Those are not exactly insignificant things; furthermore these must be at the forefront of repairing this broken nation.

Is there a list of 10-15 metrics that could be recorded today that would give a snapshot of where the country is now & that could be compared with where the country gets to come the next election.
ie
Population
GDP
National Debt
Deficit as a % of GDP
Inflation rate
Interest rates
Unemployment Rate
Productivity
What others might be useful & readily established?

Only one of these is a limited cost undertaking and Iām willing to bet itās the one you care about the least. I really hope that there is a shopping list of legislation tweaks for the first 100 days that can start to achieve things at limited costs; taking a big hammer to planning objection processes (vital with 71 Lib dem and 4 green NIMBY MPs now cluttering up the Commons) and other similar things can convey a sense of progress before the (literally) taxing business of working out how to pay for stuff begins.

Some of that looks like fluff but there is some meat in there too.
Earliest date for a budget is apparently the wonderfully auspicious 11th September.
