More shit that doesn't merit its own thread (septic tank overflow alert)

No idea, had just is.

Thanks for clarifying who the real cunt is.

I’m not a fan of honours full stop.

If they were only given on merit, to unsung heroes to thank and recognise their efforts, they would be great. But as always, they’ve been corrupted by the rich and powerful.

The pleasure a lollipop lady or a bin man or any ordinary bod gets from visiting buck house and meeting the queen is brilliant, a true ā€˜money can’t buy’ reward for being selfless.

But to give them out as rewards for toady behaviour or just long service in an already well rewarded job totally spoils it

Hamilton risked his position and livelihood to speak out. He deserves credit for that but its not a huge risk with a couple of hundred million in the bank. Turning up to clean a hospital, on minimum wage, using bin liners to stay alive during a pandemic is in a different world.

Been lucky enough to go to a few British GPs at Silverstone during Hamilton’s career. At the end of every race - whether he’s done well or not - Hamilton has spent time with the fans at the trackside. And not a token 5 minutes, he’s been there hours after the race is over and all the other VIP choppers have dropped their charges off at their private jets for the journey back to Monaco: he’s always stayed on to give the real race fans a bit of time and gratitude for their support.

I cannot reconcile the hate I see him receive from so-called ā€œsports fansā€, especially on anonymous forums, with the reality of the decent, likeable young man who has come from a mediocre lower-middle class background, whose IT-manager dad worked four jobs simultaneously and gave everything he had help make his son’s dreams reality. A son who is pretty much the only black face in the paddock - and yet in the face of relative poverty (F1 is a billionaire’s plaything nowadays, littered with drives and even whole teams purchased by daddy so junior can get his kicks) and considerable if cryptic prejudice, yet Lewis has become one of the finest and certainly the most successful driver we’ve ever had.

He’s changed things trackside too - I’ve been going to F1 races since the end of the 1960s, and it’s only in the last decade that the faces in the stands have been anything other than a sea of white males… I’m amazed and impressed by how much that has changed.

It’s easy to forget it’s a still a dangerous sport too - health and lives are still put at risk, as Romain Grosjean so nearly showed recently - for our entertainment, so in my eyes at least Hamilton deserves everything he gets - the huge paychecks, the crazy bling, the terrible clothes, the Ā£million watches, the models, the pop-princesses, the self-indulgent nonsense, and the knighthood. It’s just a shame we British detest success so much - unless it’s unearned, of course - then we love to kowtow and kiss its arse…

Managed to sort it

Probably should be involved in It once all this is over

I suspect it’s depressingly obvious where it comes from…

Honestly, I’d go with what @AmDismal says and avoid WMP.

dbPoweramp would be my weapon of choice, but it costs money. Maybe try MusicBee - it’s free.

And please rip to FLAC, not WMA lossless or WAV or some other bollocks.

Foobar and Album Art Downloader are my cheapskate choices.

I paid a tenner and got express rip

Seems to do what I want

It’s only to go through an old squeezebox

Might get a micromega dac once funds allow

Well as long as you rip to flac you should be ok. I’m not terribly precious about secure ripping either, but you want easy metadata.

Stu - it takes only a couple of minutes longer to rip to FLAC. So once you start it is a fairly easy process. Just rip to FLAC so you don’t have to it again when you get a better DAC (or whatever). And back the whole lot up at least once. You will save a lot of us a lot of angst if you rip to FLAC and backup. OK.

Ffs, ripped a 100 cds just to find out the squeezebox is dead
Might go and fling some dog shit over the neighbours fence to get rid of the anger

See if you can get a chromecast audio and a DAC. Join the 2 with an optical cable. Control from your phone or tablet. The sound quality is outrageously good for what could be under £100.

In what way dead Stu ?

I’ve got a few Squeezebox Touches and I’m surprised every time I power one up at just how long it can be before they show any sign of life. I’ve just tried it with one and it took 9 seconds between me switching on at the plug and the screen lighting up with the Logitech logo.

Just realised the power lead I just tried isnt the right one
Hopefully when I find the right one it will be fine
