More shit that doesn't merit its own thread (septic tank overflow alert)

That row has made the news a few times. I was sort of hoping the project would get shelved as they had both spent all their money on lawyers!

Didnā€™t one of the old Top Gear blokes drive around there at somepoint?

Garages in Port Talbot viewed from M4

On a recent day out with my granddaughter we took a steam locomotive ride on the East Lancashire railway ( and saw the Flying Scotsman). ā€˜How do steam engines work Grandadā€™ ? One confused looking granddaughter later, I thought sod it and bought an old Mamod traction engine to show her the principal in practice, as my explanation wasnā€™t cutting the mustard.
Now I have a new interest, renovating and restoring unloved Mamod steam engines, stripping down, cleaning up and modifying, repainting and now concocting my own steam traction engines from various parts and models from the Mamod range.
Thank you granddaughter, Iā€™m afraid I am getting far more pleasure from your question than you did from my explanation.

With just a little time from this

To this, with just a little bit of effort.

Having great fun and can even listen to music when doing it. :grinning: ( and it works)

Sad, but not unexpected.

Nice tyres. is someone selling those?

It is sad, there has always been a great mystique about the Scottish Wildcat. I suppose that we are witnessing a phase of evolution in our wildlife.

Now if AA wants a Christmas cat, Iā€™d pay to watch someone try to put a Father Christmas hat on one, hybrid or not.

I had one of those in my youth, great thing.

I wonder what happened to it?

Iā€™ve no doubt that at some time it will pass through my sticky little mitts

My wife tried that with our cat - you can guess the outcome :joy:

Meh! and Meh! again.

Thatā€™s really great, super work, looks better than new.

Iā€™ve a couple if old mamod engines, 1 identical to yours, albeit in well used original condition and more importantly a small Minor 2 stationary engine that belonged to my grandfather, he used it to teach me the principles of steam engines when I was a child, Iā€™ll get round to restoring one day.

Thanks very much, I thoroughly enjoyed doing it despite the mickey taking of swmbo, even she likes it.
Patience is all it takes, strip the engine down to component parts, which is basically removing pop rivets, a bit of nitromors, a lot of elbow grease and autosol and if you donā€™t want brush marks an airbrush. The only specialist area is finding the right VHT paint - one that doesnā€™t go grey when cured and reassemble.
Now to start on the car and steam roller at some time. If anyone is interested in grown ups boys toys, have a look at the ā€˜unofficial Mamod and other steam forumā€™, it is quite addictive however.
