Notes from a remote island

That reminds me … Fortitude is back on soon.

Any local Julian New Year celebrations coming up?
I see Up Helly Aa is at the back end of the month in Lerwick.

Unfortunately, the main event in Lerwick requires an overnight stay and accommodation is difficult. maybe book early for next year.

Meanwhile, a shot from the road looking across the bay. Our cottage is the one on the right.

Does that other small building (behind yours) in the pic belong to you Paul?

If so, you could also convert that one into a listening room, just in case Terry comes to stay :+1:

Haha, no that belongs to a neighbouring croft

Yep, first thing that came to mind when I saw Paul’s photo above.

Quite nice weather today. No wind, for a change and a pleasant 7 deg.

Do you have a source of fresh veg / meat on the island or do you have to rely on freezing stuff between trips to Lerwick?

Tourists.

Have you been there in the summer yet Paul?

We freeze meat from the excellent butcher in Lerwick. Fruit and vegetables are not so easy, however there’s a shop on Yell our neighbouring island that deliver to Fetlar once a week. They get fresh supplies from Lerwick on Thursdays and we get them delivered to the door on a Friday evening.

Yes, last two years we have been here for the Summer Solstice.

Weird when it doesn’t get dark!

Yes must be strange, was just looking at the average temps throughout the year.

Dogs must love it there.

Stuck in the office, not jealous at all :crying_cat_face:

If they could speak, I’m sure they would say yes. Failing that, their demeanor suggests they do!

Just been looking at the web cam. Ladies night in Funzie seems promising

From what I have read in various banned almanacs Wednesdays just north of Brough Lodge can get quite involved
