Number plates yer da buys

In the context of a recent school reunion, one of our number from the house*year intersection has transcended having an actual job and is now simply a “financier”.

It turns out he only lives about five miles south of me.

A few days ago an Aston DB11 rolled past me with the plates DB11 XXX, where XXX is his nickname and his father’s nickname before him.

So I asked him. I think him completely ignoring a direct question is an answer in itself.

Was he a cunt at school too?

Depending on where ya da lives, this site is an abso- fucking- lute geek fest of Number plates:

Bollocks… copy and paste fail:

Shouldn’t find this shit so fascinating, but here we are…

I stumbled across the first post by accident, and found this.
who is F1 ACE number plate registered

The “F1 ACE” number plate is registered to Raj Dhuna, a performance vehicle hire entrepreneur.

He purchased the plate at a DVLA auction in 2007 (which took place at the Williams F1 conference centre) as part of a four-plate haul that included F1 FAN, F1 NUT, and F1 GPX. The plates are used for his fleet of Ferraris.

Note on similar plates:

  • “F 1” (the most famous F1-related plate) is owned by Afzal Khan, CEO of Kahn Design.
  • “F1 PRO” was purchased by businessman Stuart Ross.
  • “F1 MAD” was purchased by Michael Andrew Drury.

Think I’ve put it on before as it’s my sis in laws car, but recently found out how her dad got it.
It was on a car at the place her dad worked at in the 80s. He didn’t know the owner of the car but kept putting notes on the car if he wanted to sell it to give him a ring.

Eventually he did ring and he bought the car for a few grand. Apparently the car was shit but managed to sell it on minus number plate and got most of the money back.

They tried to sell it around 2005 after the invincible season and her dad had died. They opened an auction page specifically for it and placed a full page ad in the arsenal programme.

It’s extremely hard to value and they did a fair bit of research. Apparently anything starting or ending with a 1 makes it worth £10-15,000 then obviously whatever the letters are change its value.

They were hoping for £100,000 or so,but it only made £27,000 so they kept it and will pass it on to their daughter who goes to most home games with her mum as she still has 2 season tickets from when her dad was alive.

Her dad had bundles of arsenal stuff dating back to the 50s. I sold the programmes and ticket stubs which fetched more than the programmes.

More or less, we are a family of 6.
I bought it on whim about 25 years ago and just left it on that car.

I think it’s entirely possible that the owner of this is the person I’d least like to meet on the entire planet.
