Brubaker is the one I really want to revisit.

We re watched Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid fairly recently & while RR was good in it, it was a poor film with long sections that dragged & incidentally a rose tinted account of the lives of a couple of awful people. It hasn’t aged well.

The one I would like to re watch is this

But he was in a lot of good films, All the President’s Men being another.

Three Days of the Condor is prob my favourite RR film and of course a certain shaggy red labradoodle was named after him too.

I forgot that he’d also appeared with Newman in another great film, the Sting which we rewatched a couple of years ago & it does stand up.

I’m going to watch ā€œAll Is Lostā€ (2013) soon if I can find it.

Heard someone review it on the radio today.

The yacht of a man, who is on a solo voyage, collides with a shipping container. With his scanty supplies depleting, the sailor braves extreme conditions to survive.

1 hour 45 min and only 51 words spoken apparently.

Stings one of my favourite films
The 2nd one was a disappointment if I remember rightly

No Newman & Redford

He’s undoubtedly made better movies, but I really love Spy Game for some reason.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid still holds up strongly for me - as does the OST.

ā€œWho are those guys?!ā€

It’s such a classic western with elements of nonsense which give it great pauses in the pursuit of the adrenaline rush of being on the run. The truth it’s a movie

Claudia Cardinale, 23rd September 2025.

I’ve never heard of her, but this line from the opening of her wikipedia page is fascinating:

Cardinale won the ā€œMost Beautiful Italian Girl in Tunisiaā€ competition in 1957

That feels like quite a niche competition!
