Obituaries

Always amazed me that something that was so bloody good, and well-regarded, was dismantled bit-by-bit until it was inferior to TOTP in the last few years: classic Beeb - take summat good, spoil it, then bin it…

I loved the old grey upto to Anne nightingale
Sadly after that it tried to get a bit clever which lost everything that made it great

Bands and programmes like TOGWT just reiterate how lucky my generation was at the time from the mid to late sixties and throughout the seventies.

Overused word, but entirely appropriate in this case.

Absolute legend, especially in a time when safety meant your head doing this to a steering wheel in a crash

Mornington Crescent will never be the same, particularly since clause 5 of Rule 17 will no longer ever apply, even if jokers are wild.

My mother passed this morning.
I have mentioned her ongoing health problems on here in a past post, so I’m not shocked and have been preparing for this day.
She survived heart attack, cancer, and a roll-over car crash in a VW van. But she finally succumbed to non-Covid related pneumonia. She went into hospital two weeks ago and after a weeks stay it was agreed that there was less risk in releasing her to home care than in being in hospital at this time. She was responding to antibiotic treatment, but yesterday afternoon her temperature spiked and she became unresponsive. Within an hour she was transfered from emergency to palliative care. Mom died at 8:45 this morning.
I’m hurting right now. But I also have the relief of knowing her pain is over.
I won’t be posting for a bit, but don’t be surprised if you see a like from me on a post because I will be looking in.
I’ll chat with you all again.
