Over-ear headphone recommendations

These are not for me but for my dog sitter who listens to stuff on her android tablet such as YouTube videos & occasionally music.

Closed back preferred
Over ear
Not wireless

and what may be the killer - must be under £100 - preferably comfortably under

When you say not wireless do you mean that they can’t have it at all or just have the option of using a cable?

Just bog standard cable to plug into her tablet. Not bluetooth, she doesn’t want to have to charge them.

I don’t think you can have noise cancelling then.

My bad, I meant closed-back :grimacing:

OP edited!

Now we’re suckin’ diesel

Also does she want proper over ear as opposed to on ear closed backs?

Over ear

Reduced Sennheisers? Plenty of change from £100

Does she realise that a charge will power them for quite a while? I really like the freedom of movement with Bluetooth headphones.

A few on here that might do

She’ll need to make sure that they can be driven directly from the tablet, without a headphone amp, with a 3.5mm jack. I think that these should be OK, used like new from Amazon at £111.33

Very good vfm.

OK they just come in under £100 and are from the studio end of things but really very good and very comfortable

Thanks for all (well, most) of the replies

I’m thinking of one or other of the models below, anyone have any direct experience of them?

@Tons_of_fun maybe? Or are they too lo-fi for you? :grimacing:

I’ve owned the ATH-M40X and they were a very good well balanced headphone but that’s as cheap as I’ve gone. I did nearly recommend them but they break the £100 point.

I think either of those 2 headphones would be a solid buy.

IMO, no headphone under £100 is going to be spot on so go for a brand that has a decent rep and at this price point I like studio brands more as they tend to be built for long use so tend to be more comfortable. If I personally wanted something under £100 I would go IEM.

I still have these for sale

Tick all 3 boxes.

They are nice headphones, they were over 100 new. I bought them to leave at the office, only selling because I don’t need them now.

I’ll show this to her tomorrow and let you know.

Ok, no rush. Just checked and Tracked 48 is £3-4 so make that £50 including postage
