Patio Pointing

Mate of mine used a cheapish mortar gun/syringe to repoint his chimney and he really rated it. They come in various types and price points so there’s the opportunity for several hundred posts in the Tools thread.

Here’s one being advertised

I’m sure there’s a knack to making it look this quick and easy.

Have 3 packs in the cupboard, butterscotch

I tried one I found it extremely difficult. Practice makes perfect I guess. You need to get the mix spot on.

I guessed there would be more to it than Youtube videos suggest. Many years ago I went on a short ‘bricklaying for amateurs’ course at the local FE college. The two things I came away with were a) even among amateurs I was bloody slow at it, although I could achieve quite good results and b) the mortar always needs to be wetter/runnier than you (by which I mean I) imagine.

So far it is the masking tape and a pointing mix that is most favourable.

You really shouldn’t need masking tape for dry mix you muppet

Not using dry mix ya flump. Pointing mix. Wet.

Oh fuck! :joy:

Going to make a slurry and pour in at highest point.

I was just going to ask @HughJanus for a bottle of his latest concoction.

You just can’t let it lie, can you? :smirk:
