Any Phasemation owners past or present here? Just wondered what your thoughts were. I am specifically looking at trying the PP500.

I’ve tried one, I think I loaned it from Ammonite. Liked it but ultimately not enough to convince me to buy it at the time. Would be interested in how you thought one compared with the Umami if you get the chance.

I’ve got the PP2000, think Paul has a 1000, sure he’ll be along shortly.
At the time I bought mine Hana Red was similar price to 2000, I had an ML that I liked so inclined to get the Red. Spoke to Mik at Unique and a guy in Greece who’d tried all the suspects at similar price and above. The latter owned Lyra Etna & Atlas Lambda among plenty others. He preferred the over all balance of the 2000 on a Brinkmann Balance. All who I spoke to expressed a preference for the 2000 over Red so I went it and been very happy with it.
Pauls system sounds really nice with the PP-1000, impossible to say what it brings as compared to others in an unfamiliar setup.
From what I hear the 1000 is a bit of a step up from the 500s

It’s actually a PP-500 that I use. I bought it in 2019 to replace my Kiseki Purpleheart and it has been my preferred cartridge ever since although I have alternated between the two cartridges over the period.
The Phasemation is currently resting as it has nearly 1000 hours on it. I plan to get it retipped when funds allow. I’m in no great rush as my Kiseki is just back from ESCO having been retipped and I’m quite enjoying the change.
I’m very happy with the PP-500 and have no plans to upgrade. It still feels like it’s the right cartridge for my system.
FWIW I wrote a wee review on the PP-500 back in 2019 as at that time there was precious little info about it on the web.
I’d definitely speak to Hugo at Ammonite Audio. He may well have one available to loan to you.

Its more curiosity than anything. I have a chance to buy a lowish hours PP500 at a keen price so I thought I might give one a try. Reviews on the brand that I have read have been positive. I don’t have any expectation that the 500 would be up at the Hana Red performance level. I just fancy trying one.
